Re-Fashioning your denims...and the Art of Thrifting!
Wandering past City Beach, saw some patched denim jeans and said to myself "That'd be so easy to do!" Here's how to attack them, courtesy of a great re-fashioning article in ReadyMade magazine.
Try it out first on some old jeans- I found a great $8 pair of Levis at an op-shop.
Went out op-shopping recently with a big group, looking for 80's clothes for a fancy dress party. Found that some people hate op-shops, there were cries of "let's get out of here, it smells!".
Personally, I love op-shopping (sorry, Mum). One day I bought a Miss Sixty vest, Country Road shirt, vintage gloves, couple of hand-embroidered cushion covers, and still had enough change from $20 to buy lunch!
For op-shopping novices, here are some tips on thrifting from cult 13-year-old blogger, the Stylish Wanderer.

Hi - I live on the sunshine coast and Im after a source of linen/hemp organic fabrics - can you help please?
Hi Catherine
Sorry to take so long to get back to you...have been camping on Moreton Island for a week with no computers, phones or even electricity.
For organic fabrics, try the Bamboo Fabric Store (PO Box 1017 Mooloolaba Qld 4557). Their website is www.bamboofabricstore.com.au. For a tiny fee, they'll send you 20 cm square swatches from their range, which includes organic bamboo, nettle and soy.
Another great online source is Certton at the Gold Coast (www.certton.com.au) though they supply organic stretch, not woven fabrics.
Also extra fabulous is Spoonflower, a US company at www.spoonflower.com. For $5 US they'll send you a swatch of your design printed onto organic cottons.
Not sure if any of these organic fabric suppliers do linen/hemp, but if they don't, they may know who does. Let me know how you go, I love the look of linen too and would like to get my hands on some!
