Make Party Decorations

1 Make Party Decorations
These decorations look beautiful twirling slowly in a breeze. Made of cardboard and paper, they're ridiculously simple to sew!
-
2. Requirements
You'll need:
A4 sheets of cardboard and paper, sewing machine, stapler, scissors, paper clips.
Tip:- 4 x A4 sheets makes approx 1 metre of decorations. A limited number of colours in different textures (shiny, translucent etc) looks great!
-
3 circles.jpg
Draw circles in 3 sizes ( these are approx 4, 8, 12cm). Layer approx. 4 sheets of paper. Staple outside of circles to hold in place and cut out.
Tip:- try photocopying the top sheet of paper to save time if you're making a lot.
-
4. Stitch Dots
Set machine to long stitch length. Layer 2, 3 or 4 same size dots and stitch through centre.
Tip:- Keep a special needle just for sewing paper/cardboard as this can blunt a needle.
-
5. Add more dots...
Sew off the edge of dot. Continue running machine, holding previous dot to form thread chain between dots. No need to lift presser foot as you guide new dots in to be sewn.
Tip:- New sewers can draw guide lines on the dots and practice sewing straight and accurately.
-
6 Add paper clip hooks
Optional:- At the end of desired length, knot on a paper clip. Paper clips can be bent into hooks to hang your decorations from window sills etc.
-
7. Hang decorations
Crease dots along stitch line to make them 3 dimensional. Smugly admire own handiwork - they're so pretty!
Tip:- Try storing your deccies in the pages of an old book. Keep each strand separate so they don't tangle together.
